SPORTS SCIENCE FACULTY Information Package Definitions

The Faculty of Sports Sciences at Hakkari University was established by Presidential Decree No. 5806, dated July 26, 2022, with the aim of contributing to regional development and supporting the academic structuring of sports sciences in Türkiye. The Faculty is committed to educating individuals equipped with scientific and ethical values aligned with contemporary needs, capable of integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills, and possessing advanced competencies specific to the field.

Currently, the Faculty offers two undergraduate programs: the Department of Coaching Education and the Department of Sports Management. Both programs provide four years of formal education, and the medium of instruction is Turkish.

The Department of Coaching Education aims to equip students with both theoretical and practical knowledge based on the fundamentals of sports sciences, enabling them to coach various age groups and performance levels. The curriculum includes a wide range of courses such as training science, sports physiology, motor learning and control, performance analysis, skill acquisition in sports, conditioning, athlete health, and sports psychology. Furthermore, students engage in practical coaching activities across different age categories and disciplines, gaining professional experience. These applications are carried out in university-affiliated laboratories and facilities, as well as in cooperation with local sports clubs and the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports.

The Department of Sports Management, on the other hand, focuses on training future administrators who can serve in sports organizations, federations, clubs, and public institutions. Students gain both theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as sports management, leadership, sports marketing, sports law, facility management, and communication. Prior to graduation, students undertake internships at relevant institutions to acquire field-based experience.

In addition to educational activities, the Faculty actively contributes to academic life through scientific research projects, sports events, symposiums, workshops, and community service practices. To support the academic and cultural development of students, mobility opportunities are also offered through exchange programs such as Erasmus+, Mevlana, and Farabi.

With a strong commitment to high-quality education, a competent academic staff, and an evolving infrastructure, the Faculty of Sports Sciences continues to educate qualified sports professionals at both regional and national levels.
