EDUCATION TYPE
The aim of the Child Development program is to provide the child with theoretical and applied education programs that support all developmental areas (mental, language, motor, self-care, social and emotional) of children aged 0-6 (pre-school), both with normal development and with special education needs, is to raise Child Development and Educator who provide services to families, educators and society.
In this program, in order to raise graduates who are suitable for this purpose, lesson programs have been created considering the physical, mental, cognitive and psycho-motor development processes of children. In this context, courses such as mental health, special education, gymnastics, animation, drama, music, painting, puppet and toy making, games and game materials were chosen as basic courses. In addition, the program courses; In addition to compulsory field courses, it is also supported by computer and foreign language courses. The language of instruction of the program is Turkish, and preparatory education is optional.
TARGETS
In the Child Development program, the skills and behaviors of children, the determination of their abilities according to the theory of multiple intelligences and the arrangement of education and training accordingly have been accepted as the basic principle. It is aimed to give the necessary importance to motivation and motivation in order to develop creative thinking in children and to enable them to learn by doing and experiencing. On the other hand, among the goals and objectives of this program; It is aimed to give the children the opportunity to think and make the right decisions so that they can easily cope with the problems they encounter both in preparing them for school and in their daily lives.

History

The Child Development Program was established under Hakkari University Health Services Vocational High School, Department of Child Care and Youth Services. It has been active since 2010.

Qualification Awarded
|
Students who successfully complete the program will be entitled to a diploma with the title of ‘Graduate of Child Development Program’.

Admission Requirements
Students are admitted to the Associate Degree Program in Child Development based on their scores from the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), which is part of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates gain the right to enroll in the program if they are placed within the designated quota through the Student Selection and Placement System (ÖSYS) preference process.

Higher Grade Transition
|
The graduate students of the Child Development Program are required to enter the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) in order to be able to continue their undergraduate education from the 5th semester of formal education or open education of undergraduate programs.

Graduation Requirements
|
To graduate from the Child Development Program, students must undertake lessons with 120 ECTS credits, must successfully complete all courses, must have a GPA of at least 2,00 and must fulfill other obligations. It is not allowed to graduate with missing credits.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
|
Graduates who have successfully completed the Associate Degree Program in Child Development will be able to be employed in preschool education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, in private education institutions, in children’s clinics of hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health, in rehabilitation centers, and in institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Family and Social Policies.

Assessment and Grading

To be able to enter the final exam, each student must enroll in classes at the beginning of the semester and must attend at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the practices. Students are required to take at least one midterm and one final exam for each course. the 40% of the grade of success comes from the midterm exam and 60% from the final exam. The midterm exam grade may come from assignments, laboratory exams, quizzes etc. All exams are evaluated with 100 points. There is a requirement to score at least 50 points from the final exam. Students who receive one of the letter grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC are deemed to have succeeded that course. DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. For a DC or DD graded course to be accepted as successful, the overall GPA of the student must be at least 2.0.
