About Programme

PURPOSE
To train medical secretaries that health institutions and organizations need in the field of medical documentation and secretarial work.
TITLE
Those who complete the program are given an Associate Degree diploma and the title of Health Technician (Medical Secretary) in accordance with the decision of the Executive Board of Higher Education, dated 27.07.1992 and numbered 92.26.698.
TASK DESCRIPTION
Graduated from colleges providing associate degree education in the field of medical secretary, medical documentation and secretarial; is a healthcare professional who keeps and archives the medical records of the patient, from the patient's arrival at the health institution to his discharge, performs the coding procedures according to the international classification system of diseases, and also carries out the communication and correspondence works of the administrative and medical units.

DUTIES, AUTHORITIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Arranges the patient's appointment services
Performs patient admissions
Informs the patient about the functioning of the institution and medical services
Maintains patient's medical records
Executes communication and correspondence services in administrative and medical units.
It archives patient files and other necessary documents and reports with scientific methods and puts them into service.
Makes the coding processes of diseases, processes and health-related problems according to the international classification systems of diseases.
It compiles the data related to medical statistics and analyzes it with scientific methods and reports the results periodically to the relevant people.

History
Tibbi documentation and secratariat Program was established under Hakkari University Health Services Vocational High School, Department of Technigues and Medical Services. It has been active since 2012.
Qualification Awarded
When the program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are provided, an Associate's degree in the field of Medical Documentation and Secretarial (5th level) is obtained.
Admission Requirements
Students are accepted to the Medical Documentation and Secretariat Associate Degree Program with the Examination of Higher Education Institutions (YKS) conducted by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Those who have scored at least 150 points and above in TYT score type are placed in this program within the quota in the Student Selection and Placement System (ÖSYS) selection process, they are entitled to enroll.
Higher Grade Transition
Medical Documentation and Secretaryship program students can transfer to the bachelor’s degree programs of Health Management, Business Administration, İnternational Business Management, İnternational Relations, Public Relations and Advertising, Public Relations and Promotion, Labor Economics and Inddustrial Relations, Economics, Management, Public Administration, Finance and Political Science and Public Adminstration by External Transfer Exam (DGS).
Graduation Requirements
Students should success in all the courses in the program (120 ECTS), get at least 2.00 grade point average on the scale of 4.00 and fulfil the 30-workday internship successfully in order to complete the program successfully.

Assessment and Grading
To be able to enter the final exam, each student must enroll in classes at the beginning of the semester and must attend at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the practices. Students are required to take at least one midterm and one final exam for each course. the 40% of the grade of success comes from the midterm exam and 60% from the final exam. The midterm exam grade may come from assignments, laboratory exams, quizzesetc. All exams are evaluated with 100 points.There is a requirement to score at least 50 points from the final exam. Students who receive one of the letter grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC are deemed to have succeeded that course. DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. For a DC or DD graded course to be accepted as successful, theoverall GPA of the student must be at least 2.0.
