EDUCATION TYPE
After giving the concepts and definitions of nature and environment in the form of basic sciences such as biology, ecology, and climatology; The emergence of various natural and human-induced environmental problems, their effects, and the solutions that can be brought to these problems are given in detail in the courses related to each subject (air pollution, solid waste, land use and environment, etc.). In addition, the legislation on national and international environmental issues is comparatively taught to students in order to shed light on their working lives. In this direction, the main aim of the program is; to give students an awareness of the importance of the environment, why it should be protected and what we can encounter if it is not protected, and to enable graduates with this awareness to work on environmental issues.

History
|
The Environmental Health Program was established under Hakkari University Health Services Vocational High School, Department of Technigues and Medical Services. It has been active since 2012.
|
Qualification Awarded
|
Students who successfully complete the program will be entitled to a diploma with the title of ‘Graduate of Environmental Health Program’.
|
Admission Requirements
|
Students are admitted to the Environmental Health Associate Degree Program with the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) conducted by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Those who in TYT score type are placed in this program within the quota in the Student Selection and Placement System (ÖSYS) selection process, they gain the right to enroll.

Higher Grade Transition
|
The graduate students of the Environmental Health Program are required to enter the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) in order to be able to continue their undergraduate education from the 5th semester of formal education or open education of undergraduate programs.

Graduation Requirements
|
To graduate from the Environmental Health Program, students must undertake lessons with 120 ECTS credits, must successfully complete all courses, must have a GPA of at least 2,00 and must fulfill other obligations. It is not allowed to graduate with missing credits.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
|
Graduates of the Environmental Health Program have a wide range of employment opportunities in public institutions, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations. They can work in municipalities, provincial health directorates, environmental laboratories, and organized industrial zones, performing tasks such as environmental inspections, waste management, and water quality monitoring. Additionally, they may take part in hygiene control in food production facilities, pest control services, field measurements for environmental consultancy firms, and assessment of environmental factors in public health centers.

Assessment and Grading
|
To be able to enter the final exam, each student must enroll in classes at the beginning of the semester and must attend at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the practices. Students are required to take at least one midterm and one final exam for each course. the 40% of the grade of success comes from the midterm exam and 60% from the final exam. The midterm exam grade may come from assignments, laboratory exams, quizzes etc. All exams are evaluated with 100 points. There is a requirement to score at least 50 points from the final exam. Students who receive one of the letter grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC are deemed to have succeeded that course. DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. For a DC or DD graded course to be accepted as successful, the overall GPA of the student must be at least 2.0.
