Aim of the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program
The aim of the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program is to train qualified health technicians who possess the knowledge and skills to accurately and reliably perform laboratory analyses in the medical laboratories of healthcare institutions.
Brief Information About the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program
The Medical Laboratory Techniques program is designed to educate professionals who will work in laboratory services, an indispensable part of modern medicine. In this program, students acquire fundamental theoretical knowledge in areas such as microbiology, biochemistry, hematology, immunology, and parasitology, while also receiving intensive practical training in laboratory techniques, equipment usage, sample collection, and analysis processes. Graduates can work in various healthcare institutions, including hospitals, medical centers, public health laboratories, and research institutions, playing a crucial role in disease diagnosis, monitoring treatment processes, and preventive healthcare services. This program aims to equip students with the competency to utilize current laboratory technologies and work in accordance with ethical guidelines.

History
|
Medical Laboratory Techniques Program was established in Hakkari University Health Services Vocational School Department of Medical Services and Techniques and has been active since 2012.

Qualification Awarded
|
Students who have successfully completed the program are awarded Associate Degree in the field.
|
Admission Requirements
|
Students are admitted to the Medical Laboratory Techniques Associate Degree Program with the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) administered by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Those who have scored at least 150 points and above in TYT score type are placed in this program within the quota in the Student Selection and Placement System (ÖSYS) selection process, they gain the right to enroll.

Higher Grade Transition

Students who graduate from this program can go to the Faculty by way of the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).

Graduation Requirements
The student who graduates from the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques program must fulfill the following conditions To learn the intended program learning outputs in the period, Successfully completing all the courses in the curriculum, To reach 120 ECTS value, At least 2.00 out of 4.00 as passing grade and do not leave lessons at the bottom

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
|
Medical laboratory technicians can work in hospitals and medical faculties in biochemistry and microbiology laboratories, special analytical laboratories, research centers of other health institutions, hygiene institutes, research institutions, research centers, blood banks and dialysis centers.

Assessment and Grading
|
It is necessary that at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the applications should be continued in order for each student to enroll in classes at the beginning of the semester and to enter the final exam. Students are required to take at least one midterm and a final exam for each course. The grade of success is 40%, the contribution of the final exam is 60%, and the midterm exam (grades obtained from the measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exams, quizzes, etc. can be taken as an intermediate grade). All exams are evaluated over 100 points. There is a requirement to take at least 50 points from the final exam. Students who take one of the letter grades AA, BA, BB, CB and CC are deemed to have completed that course. DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for a student to achieve a grade of DC or DD grade, a GPA of at least 2.0 is required.
