About Programme

Programme Aim

The primary objective of the First Aid and Emergency Care Programme is to train paramedics who are equipped with professional knowledge and skills, are committed to ethical values, have strong communication skills, are adept at teamwork, and are able to make quick and accurate decisions, with a priority on protecting human life. This programme aims to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, and competence to effectively intervene with patients and injured individuals in settings such as incident sites, ambulances, and emergency departments. They are also responsible for the use of ambulances, which are emergency response vehicles. Additionally, the programme aims to equip students with practical training in topics such as basic life support, trauma management, patient transport techniques, and emergency protocols, and to nurture them into individuals who are adaptable to emerging technologies and open to lifelong learning.

Programme Objectives

1. To train first aid and emergency medical technicians who have the knowledge, skills, and equipment to respond quickly, accurately, and effectively in emergency situations.
2. To produce health professionals who adhere to medical ethics, respect patient rights, and are team players.
3. To train individuals who follow technological developments in their field, are open to continuous learning, and can fulfil their professional responsibilities.
4. To produce graduates who can take on critical roles in the healthcare system and act professionally in life-saving applications.

History
First and Immediate Aid Program was founded in 2012 within Vocational School of Higher Education for Health Services of Hakkari University.
Qualification Awarded
When the program is successfully completed and program qualifications are provided, the degree of associate degree in First and Immediate Aid is obtained.
Admission Requirements
Students are admitted to the First and Emergency Aid Associate Degree Program with the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Those who have received a score from the TYT score type gain the right to enroll in the Student Selection and Placement System (OSYS) preference process, if they are placed in this program within the quota.
Higher Grade Transition
Immediate Aid and Disaster Management, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services programs are made transition in line with the relevant legislation of YÖK.
Graduation Requirements
First and Immediate Aid program, students completed the associate degree program in order to obtain the degree of required and elective courses in professional (for a total of 120 ECTS) and successfully complete all of the public must be at least 2.00 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of public and private health institutions and organizations, "Paramedic" work with the title. Health care facilities as well as other institutions and organizations providing emergency medical service units are employed. Employment areas under the Ministry of Health public and private inpatient / outpatient medical institutions and organizations, Emergency Services, Emergency Stations 112, 112 Command and Control Centers, Private Ambulance Services and so on. units. Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) Paramedic according to (Health Technician) as may be assigned.
Assessment and Grading
Mid-exam scores taken from the 40% success score is calculated by taking 60% of points from the final exam. Relative performance rating is determined by assessment or equivalent letter.
